India at 75 and the Road Ahead

We are celebrating 75 years of independence, we have come a long way - we have improved a lot on many fronts but there is still a lot of scope for improvement. Our beloved PM has come up with the new terms to communicate the growth and the vision for future. 

We have learned from software services how our bane of population can be converted to demographic dividend. Out strength is our culture and diversity and we have a lot of scope to export our culture / traditions and values. We are a nation of 130 crore people and we cannot accomodate all the people in IT or manufacturing and not all are made for high tech jobs. We have a lot of people who are talented in music, drama and stand-up comedy and so on. Our food is one of the best in the world, we have huge variiety and soulful food. We are working on that, making good progress in that area but we have a lot of scope. We have to build soft power with the technology power so that we can effectively utilize our resources and provide entertainment to the world. Today bollywood is one of the best in the world, it has to penetrate deep and wide. We have to educate ourselves and educate the world about our rich legacy and culture.  We have to enculturate and learn about our rich legacy and acculturate the world. We need not be religious or put forrth or hard core sell hindutva but we have to religion agnostic and have to focus / encourage talent development while sticking to our values. We have to have big heart and our values match that and is beyond any religion. Its more about world is a family and having a culture of encouraging talent and hard work like in #wipro or any software company that has indian roots and global reach / vision.  

Western world listens to the problems of the world and creates products and platforms to create solutions for the world. 

How is that they influence the world 
- they listen to the problems of the people
- create products / solutions for the same
- people use the solutions; engage with the solutions and their loyalty and behavior is  inclined towards the product and hence the company
- the companies listen to the customers in all formats from bottom to top
- products are given
- Brands are built
- Institutions and people become influencers' of the society and set behavioral examples ( modelling technique/analysis in psychology language )


in technical terms this may be called product development / marketing / sales. In plain english - this is the dialogue between producers and consumers. It is all about Request-Response and engagement or relationship building with the society and world at large.

The structure is People-Brands-People ( by the people / for the people )

Here in the east we do not have many products or brands that have appealed to the global audience. we have people who are selling most of the brands developed from all over the world. The auto sector may be an exception.

The structure is people-people with nothing palpable in between except the money or power.Here the success is measured in terms of people served or managed. It is there even in the mutts and in software companies.

Here we tend to think more about the bottom line and not much on the top line and solving local problems. We have to consciously work towards developing products that solve our problems and make them world class. Now with the mobile cloud platform; it is easier to understand the needs of the customer from all over the world.

Our hotels / darshinis fast food joints are a hit - it is a perfect balance of products and service. Haldirams; Coffee Day is a hit and so are many others. 
The culture of Nothing is free; Nothing is luxurious; everything is clean/tasty has to pervade India.

To me; there is lot of scope in 

Food processing
Art and music
Ayurveda
Textiles
Jewelry
Software

We will need many more patanjali's / coffee days and Haldirams in the sectors that india needs. The approach has to be #MakeInIndia for India and then exports. But the thinking is exports first without having a good local base while  the whole world is looking at India as a market in trillions of dollars.

The focus or the journey towards multi trillion dollars economy should produce India based brands else it will be hollow and cannot sustain for long.
